إنطلاقاً من دور مصر الرائد تجاه أشقائها من الدول الأفريقية والتعاون معهم فى مواجهة الإرهاب الذى يهدد أمن وإستقرار شعوب القارة ، عقد مركز الساحل والصحراء لمكافحة الإرهاب مؤتمراً بعنوان ” الإرهاب فى غرب أفريقيا ” بالتعاون مع المركز الإفريقى للأبحاث والدراسات الإستراتيجية ( أكريس ) .
وألقى اللواء أ ح / محمـد عبدالباسط مدير مركز الساحل والصحراء لمكافحة الإرهاب كلمة نقل خلالها تحيات وتقدير الفريق أول / عبدالمجيد صقر القائد العام للقوات المسلحة وزير الدفاع والإنتاج الحربى والفريق / أحمد خليفة رئيس أركان حرب القوات المسلحة للحضور ، مشيراً إلى حرص القوات المسلحة المصرية على تقديم الدعم لجيوش الدول الإفريقية الشقيقة والصديقة لمواجهة ظاهرة الإرهاب فى أفريقيا خاصةً فى ظل ما تموج به المنطقة من تهديدات .
وتضمن برنامج المؤتمر مناقشة دوافع وحوافز التطرف والإرهاب وأثره على الوحدة والتكامل فى غرب أفريقيا ، وكذا إعطاء الأولوية للتنمية المستدامة والإستثمار لتغيير البيئة الحاضنة للإرهاب ، وذلك بحضور ممثلو المركز الإفريقى للأبحاث والدراسات الإستراتيجية ( أكريس ) وعدد من السفراء والملحقين العسكريين للدول الأفريقية ولفيف من العلماء .

Sahel and Sahara Center for Counterterrorism Holds Conference on “Terrorism in West Africa” in Cooperation with the African Centre for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRISS)

As part of Egypt’s leading role in supporting its African partners and fostering cooperation in confronting terrorism—one of the most pressing threats to the security and stability of the continent—the Sahel and Sahara Center for Counterterrorism hosted a conference titled “Terrorism in West Africa”, in collaboration with the African Centre for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRISS).
In his opening remarks, Major General Mohamed Abdel Baset, Director of the Sahel and Sahara Center for Counterterrorism, conveyed the greetings and appreciation of General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, to all attendees. He emphasized the Egyptian Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to supporting the armed forces of friendly and brotherly African nations in their efforts to combat terrorism, particularly in light of the escalating threats facing the region.
The conference agenda included discussions on the drivers and incentives of extremism and terrorism, their impact on unity and regional integration in West Africa, and the importance of prioritizing sustainable development and investment as a means to transform environments conducive to terrorism.
The event was attended by representatives from ACRISS, a number of African ambassadors and military attachés, as well as a distinguished group of scholars and experts.

Dans le cadre du rôle de premier plan joué par l’Égypte auprès de ses frères africains et de sa coopération avec eux pour faire face au terrorisme menaçant la sécurité et la stabilité des peuples du continent, le Centre Sahel-Sahara de lutte contre le terrorisme a organisé une conférence intitulée “Le terrorisme en Afrique de l’Ouest”, en partenariat avec le Centre Africain de Recherches et d’Études Stratégiques (ACRISS).
Le Général de division Mohamed Abdel Basset, directeur du Centre Sahel-Sahara de lutte contre le terrorisme, a prononcé un discours dans lequel il a transmis les salutations et l’estime du Général d’armée Abdel Majeed Saqr, commandant général des Forces armées, ministre de la Défense et de la Production militaire, ainsi que celles du Général de corps d’armée Ahmed Khalifa, chef d’état-major des Forces armées, aux participants. Il a souligné la volonté des Forces armées égyptiennes de soutenir les armées des pays africains frères et amis pour faire face au phénomène du terrorisme sur le continent, notamment dans un contexte régional marqué par de nombreuses menaces.
Le programme de la conférence a porté sur la discussion des motivations et des facteurs du radicalisme et du terrorisme, ainsi que de leur impact sur l’unité et l’intégration en Afrique de l’Ouest. Il a également mis l’accent sur la priorité à accorder au développement durable et à l’investissement afin de transformer l’environnement favorable au terrorisme. Ont assisté à la conférence des représentants du Centre Africain de Recherches et d’Études Stratégiques (ACRISS), un certain nombre d’ambassadeurs, d’attachés militaires de pays africains, ainsi qu’un ensemble de chercheurs et d’experts.
