استقبل السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، السيد “موراي أوتشينكلوس”، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة “بريتيش بيتروليوم”، وذلك بحضور المهندس كريم بدوي، وزير البترول والثروة المعدنية، والسيد نادر زكي، الرئيس الإقليمي للشركة لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.
وأشار المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية إلى أن السيد الرئيس قد أشاد بأنشطة الشركة في مصر في مجالي الغاز والبترول، وكذلك في تطوير الحقول المصرية المختلفة، كما رحب سيادته بزيادة استثمارات الشركة في قطاع الطاقة المصري، مؤكدًا حرص الحكومة على توفير كافة التسهيلات اللازمة لعمل الشركات العالمية وزيادة انخراط القطاع الخاص في هذا القطاع الحيوي.
كما صرح المتحدث الرسمي بأن السيد الرئيس قد أكد أيضاً تطلع الدولة لتوسيع التعاون مع شركة “بريتيش بيتروليوم” ليشمل مجال الطاقة النظيفة والمتجددة، خاصةً في ظل الإمكانات الواعدة التي تتمتع بها مصر في إنتاج الهيدروجين الأخضر، بالإضافة إلى جهود الدولة للتحول إلى مركز إقليمي لإنتاجه وتصديره، وسعيها لزيادة انخراط الشركات العالمية في مشروعات إنتاج الطاقة النظيفة والمتجددة ذات الانبعاثات المنخفضة في مصر.
وأضاف السفير محمد الشناوي المتحدث الرسمي أن الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة أعرب عن تقديره وسعادته بلقاء الرئيس، مبرزًا اعتزازه بنشاط الشركة في مصر الذي يمتد لأكثر من 60 عامًا، مؤكداً التزام الشركة بتعزيز أعمالها وزيادة استثماراتها في قطاع الطاقة المصري، كونها شريكًا أساسيًا في اكتشاف وتنمية موارد مصر من الغاز الطبيعي والبترول. كما أعرب عن اعتزام الشركة تنفيذ مشروعات لإنتاج الطاقة النظيفة والمتجددة، التي تمثل أولوية للجانب المصري.
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chief Executive Officer of British Petroleum, BP, Mr. Murray Auchincloss. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawy, and BP’s Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Nader Zaki.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi lauded BP’s activities in Egypt in the areas of gas and petroleum as well as its efforts in developing various Egyptian fields. The President also commended the company’s expanded investment in Egypt’s energy sector. He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to facilitating the operations of international companies and fostering stronger collaboration with the private sector in this vital sector.
The President confirmed the state’s intention to expand cooperation with BP into clean and renewable energy, leveraging Egypt’s promising potential for green hydrogen production. This further supports the state’s broader goal of establishing Egypt as a regional hub for the production and export of green hydrogen as well as its endeavors to encourage global companies to engage in low-emission clean and renewable energy projects in Egypt.
BP’s CEO expressed his appreciation and pleasure for meeting with the President. He emphasized BP’s pride in its longstanding operations in Egypt, which have been ongoing for over 60 years. He confirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence and increasing its investments in Egypt’s energy sector, as a key partner in the exploration and development of Egypt’s natural gas and oil resources. Mr. Auchincloss also confirmed BP’s plans to undertake projects for the production of clean and renewable energy, a paramount priority for Egypt.
