استقبل بمقر إقامة سيادته بدبي، السيدة كريستالينا چورچييڤا، المدير التنفيذي لصندوق النقد الدولي.

وصرح المستشار أحمد فهمي، المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية، أن اللقاء تناول استعراض أوجه العلاقات بين مصر وصندوق النقد الدولي، لاسيما في ضوء برنامج التعاون القائم لاستكمال تنفيذ الإصلاح الاقتصادي المصري، حيث أعرب السيد الرئيس في هذا الصدد عن التقدير للشراكة المثمرة بين الجانبين، مؤكداً حرص الحكومة المصرية على استمرارها، وذلك بالنظر إلى ما توفره من مناخ إيجابي لكافة المستثمرين وأسواق المال العالمية حول الاقتصاد المصري، وفرص الاستثمار والآفاق الواسعة التي تتيحها، أخذاً في الاعتبار عزم مصر على مواصلة تعزيز الإصلاحات الهيكلية المتعلقة بالسياسات المالية والنقدية، والاستمرار في تعظيم دور القطاع الخاص في التنمية.

وأوضح المتحدث الرسمي أن السيدة “چورچييڤا” أكدت التطلع المتبادل لصندوق النقد الدولي لمواصلة علاقات التعاون المتميزة مع مصر ودعمه للإصلاحات الاقتصادية بها، مشيدةً في هذا الصدد بأداء الاقتصاد المصري وما أظهره من مرونة وصمود في مواجهة التداعيات السلبية الناجمة عن جائحة كورونا والأزمة الروسية الأوكرانية والأوضاع في غزة، ومؤكدة استمرار الصندوق في تعزيز العمل المشترك مع الحكومة لتحقيق الأهداف الوطنية المصرية بتحسين المؤشرات الكلية للاقتصاد، وزيادة تنافسيته، وتعميق مشاركة القطاع الخاص واستكمال العمل التنموي الجاري.

وقد تطرق اللقاء كذلك إلى قضية تغير المناخ وتمويل العمل المناخي لاسيما في الدول النامية، وكذا الأوضاع الاقتصادية العالمية والجهود الجارية لإصلاح وتطوير منظومة التمويل الدولية والمؤسسات المالية متعددة الأطراف لمواجهة التحديات العالمية المتزايدة مؤخراً.

Upon his arrival this evening in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the COP28 Summit, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received at his residence Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said the meeting reviewed the various facets of cooperation between Egypt and the IMF, notably in light of the ongoing cooperation program to fully implement Egypt’s economic reforms. President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for the fruitful partnership between the two sides, and emphasized the Government of Egypt’s commitment to maintaining it, given the conducive environment it fosters for all investors and global financial markets with regard to the Egyptian economy as well as the investment opportunities and broad prospects it provides. This takes into account Egypt’s resolve to continue to enhance the structural reforms pertinent to the financial and monetary policies and to further boost the role of the private sector in development.

The IMF Managing Director confirmed the IMF’s mutual interest to further advance its outstanding cooperation with Egypt and its support for Egypt’s economic reforms. In this regard, Ms. Georgieva lauded the performance of the Egyptian economy as well as its resilience and steadfastness in the face of the negative repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the situation in Gaza. She confirmed the IMF’s commitment to maintaining its joint cooperation with the government so as to realize Egypt’s national goals, including enhancing the overall economic indicators, bolstering its competitiveness, fostering deeper private sector engagement and completing the ongoing development efforts.

The meeting also tackled the issue of climate change and climate finance, notably in developing countries. This is in addition to the global economic situation and efforts underway to reform and enhance the international financing system and multilateral financial institutions, with a view to addressing the current escalating global challenges.
