“ Fellini Mastorna …a film of no return ” by Jennifer Glee protagonist at the SF New Concept Film Festival

When success arrives or returns it is like God kissing your forehead and the light explodes and dissolves every shadow and every negativity. This phrase refers to: “Fellini Mastorna…a film of no return” where the “no return” is totally the return of the most positive things, of the most positive values. It is a film by the Irish Californian Jennifer Glee, which from September until today, all over the world, has entered as a finalist film in 20 film festivals, received 15 film awards and now reaches the top at the red carpet of the 10th SFNCFF (San Francisco New Concept Film Festival) which has the reputation of being considered, also an intellectual Film Festival, which highlights the newest concepts of cinematic inspiration. From November 15 to 18, 2023, the selected films will be screened at the prestigious SF Balboa Theater with a Filmmakers Discussion Forum. On November 19th there is a majestic red carpet (2-3pm), awards ceremony (3-6pm) and gala (6:30-8:30pm) at SF’s iconic grand Herbst Theatre, where the United Nations was born and US First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt proclaimed Human Rights. But let’s talk about the film, which really has a synopsis, unparalleled in cinema. Man’s dream is to stop time, and therefore immortality. The invention of cinema certainly stops time, but it “encapsulates”, it takes over everything. Federico / Fortune Teller / Mastorna, the main character of the film, played masterfully by Federico Wardal, star in various continents, who had the legendary Federico Fellini as his mentor, calls a young actor Antonio, played by Anthony James Rummel, into his studio, in agreement with the director of the film Jennifer Glee , the real Jennifer Glee , for a audition. Antonio has been mute since he was a child due to shock. This condition makes him feel different and excluded in society. Antonio, to redeem himself from this condition, aspires to become a famous actor. Antonio accepts the meeting with Federico, for the audition , for a film whose title has the name of Federico Fellini, one of the most acclaimed world cinema legends. The young Antonio finds himself in front of a Federico, who has an aggressive charisma and who, regardless
of Antonio’s handicap, despite being aware of it, offers him a non silent role, while moving his head, wearing a sparkling wig that belonged to Michael Jackson. Jennifer Glee, in the role of herself, shoots the scene, while Federico pretends to film Antonio, using a camera that really belonged to Rudolph Valentino. Bizarre. Federico starts reading tarot cards, prophesying, but the tarot cards aren’t actually there and Federico distances himself from the human dimension. Surreal. Federico talks to Antonio about a mysterious film “Mastorna”, which in Italian means “without return” and which Fellini never wanted to finish. The real reasons for this escape everyone and “Mastorna” is the most discussed film in cinema, without ever having been completed. This is the flamboyant, ephemeral, strange world of entertainment, to which young Antonio is not yet accustomed and is totally lost. Little by little the atmosphere becomes heavy for Antonio and Antonio, highly uncomfortable, tries to escape, but Federico’s stage magnetism paralyzes Antonio. Federico almost transforms into Fellini and tells Antonio that a film can become a prison for those who belong to the film, just as the fame that Antonio seeks can be a prison. For a moment, Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray” appears on the screen, imprisoning time, as cinema does. Federico clearly tells Antonio that being in the film, he is a prisoner of the film. Federico then begins to personify Mastorna and tells Antonio that he recognizes him as the dead boy, whom he had seen alive, near the Cologne cathedral, after the plane crash that Mastorna had suffered. The nightmare grows and the panic now prevents Antonio from breathing, when, suddenly, with a twist, Federico comes out of the trance and realizes his atrocious reality: that he is forced to relive the dream of Mastorna’s journey forever, but who, at the same time, has imprisoned Antonio psychologically and so Federico decides to free him with a stratagem.
He tells Antonio, in agreement with director Jennifer Glee, that the camera did not record anything and that therefore Antonio is no longer a prisoner of anything and therefore is free to leave. But this is not enough to unblock Antonio. Then Federico tells Antonio to scream his name, because the spell is broken and that Antonio is no longer mute and can finally speak. Antonio is obviously incredulous, but, unconsciously, reacting to the shocking situation, he shouts some disconnected sentences. It’s a highly emotional scene. This moves Federico, since he knows that now Antonio is ready to face his journey and will go away and that he, Federico, falling back into his absolute solitude, will continue to relive Mastorna’s dream, condemned to this, forever. Jennifer’s film Glee, an absolute masterpiece in the history of cinema, traveling in different dimensions, offers a very strong human, regenerating charge.
The film makes use of the expert editing of ANA Laura Roma. Dub mixer is Eric Bard. Jennifer Glee soundtrack, including: “Frederick the Ghost” and “Antonio’s Lament”.
During his journey towards progress, man has created many barriers and with these many fears. The film pushes us to defeat fears, to emerge from artificial dreams, recreating the definition of a dream which is the enchantment for nature, for the universe. The film will soon become a feature film. Jennifer Glee ‘s next movie will be: “I waited for you” with Wardal.
Wardal will be awarded in London in 2024 as “Best actor” for “ Fellini Mastorna …a film of no return “
