استقبل السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي اليوم الفريق أول “مايكل كوريلا” قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية، وذلك بحضور الفريق أول محمد زكي وزير الدفاع والإنتاج الحربي.

وصرح المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية أن الجانبين أكدا الحرص على تدعيم الشراكة الاستراتيجية بين مصر والولايات المتحدة، فضلاً عن تكثيف التعاون والتنسيق القائم في مختلف المجالات، لاسيما العسكرية والأمنية، في ضوء أهمية ذلك لدعم جهود استعادة الأمن والاستقرار وترسيخ السلام في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.

وأضاف المتحدث الرسمي أن اللقاء شهد التباحث حول عدد من القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك؛ خاصةً تطورات الموقف في قطاع غزة، حيث استعرض السيد الرئيس جهود مصر لخفض التصعيد، مؤكداً أهمية تضافر جهود المجتمع الدولي للدفع في اتجاه احتواء الموقف المتأزم ووقف تصاعده في اتجاهات خطيرة، والتحوّل إلى نهج إحياء مسار السلام على أساس حل الدولتين اللتين تعيشان جنباً إلى جنب في سلام وأمن، أخذاً في الاعتبار خطورة امتداد التبعات الأمنية لهذا الصراع إلى المحيط الإقليمي برمته. كما تم تناول الأوضاع الإنسانية في قطاع غزة، حيث شدد السيد الرئيس على أهمية الاستمرار في إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية إلى أبناء الشعب الفلسطيني في القطاع على نحو مستدام، وذلك كأولوية قصوى في ضوء الأوضاع الإنسانية المتردية بالقطاع.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with General Michael Kurilla, Commander, U.S. Central Command. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki.

The Spokesman for the Presidency said both sides stressed keenness to strengthen the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States and to intensify the ongoing cooperation and coordination in various fields, especially military and security, in light of their importance to support efforts to restore security and stability and consolidate peace in the Middle East.

The meeting reviewed a number of issues of common interest, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip.

The President outlined Egypt’s efforts for de-escalation, stressing the importance of the international community’ concerted efforts to contain the crisis and stop its escalation in dangerous directions, and shifting to the approach of reviving the peace path based on the solution of two states that live side by side in peace and security, taking into account the danger of the security consequences of this conflict from extending to the entire region.

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip was also discussed. President El-Sisi stressed the importance of continuing to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in the Strip in a sustainable manner, as a top priority, in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Strip.
