This 2021 beginning , a part our COVID’s situation, was started with happiness because all the International Friends of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina ( Alexandria of Egypt ) , many countries from each continent, watched a superb performance through the Mexican Chapter , president the indispensable creator of international cultural artistic events Mrs. Gloria Silvia Pérez del Valle , also Vice President of IFBA ( International Friends of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina) . Thanks to H.E. Khaled Shammaa Ambassador of Egypt in Mexico and H.E. José Octavio Tripp , Ambassador of Mexico in Egypt. I , as critic of theatre, movies, tv too, I must say that the performance , concerning the event of Christmas, was offered to the audience by the playwright Tomas Urtusastegui director Omar Olvera Calderon and actor protagonist Roberto Salguero , as if all was happening now, in our days. The performance was so natural that really seemed the event of the birth of Jesus Christ was happening next door. Very cool the way of acting , everything. Name of the play is “ Pastorela “ ( Pastoral , bucolic ) What is a ” Pastorela “? The “Pastorela” is a traditional mexican short play which is performed in Christmas times. It´s backround came from the spanish conquered during the Sixteen Century, it’s roots came from the evangelizer theatre, to teach about Christ. Often is a musical performance with “villancicos”, songs singing in the villages, it’s a fight againts good and evil, and is also part of our mexican heritage. * How about this “Pastorela”? I’m The Angel (Soy El Ángel), is a one-man play written by mexican playwright Tomás Urtusástegui (1933-2020) in 2018.
